1. Turn down the heat

Long, hot showers are divine, especially after a hard day’s work. What’s not so divine is how hot water heaters suck tonnes of energy — which show up on your electric bill. Adjust your heater and take a lukewarm shower instead. Not only will it be less drying for the skin (an added bonus), but the decreased temperature from 140 to 120 degrees can cut heating costs by up to 10 per cent.
