Ganapati Bappa Moraya - Glory to Ganesha!

On Ganesh Chaturthi, pandals are being decorated across the country as devout Indians prepare to welcome Lord Ganesha, the mover of all obstacles and the symbol of prosperity. In a few days, great crowds of revellers will march in mammoth processions, leading the lovable elephant-headed god to a ceremonious immersion in lakes, rivers, and oceans. Artisans are fashioning idols from clay, papier mache and plaster of paris, and adding coats of paint. As Ganeshas brighten up homes and neighbourhoods, Yahoo readers get festive and send in their favourite photos of Ganapati.

This collection of Ganesha images, partially sourced from Flickr, celebrates the elephant-headed god in statues, motifs, paintings and other representations from all over the world.

Are you celebrating Vinayaka Chaturdashi, too? Share your photos on our Flickr group. We'll publish the best ones here.
