Flash Flood Swamps San Antonio Zoo's Gate

San Antonio Zoo fans were warned Thursday, May 19, to stay away until the weather calmed down, though the zoo was open. The zoo broadcast on its Facebook page the flooding just outside its gates triggered by heavy rain that hit that area of Texas Thursday. Officials said the zoo itself and its animals were safe. The narrator states on the video the zoo is on higher ground than the area in the park outside its gate.

Flash flood warnings were issued throughout southern Texas, including San Antonio, on Thursday, according to local media. Heavy rain triggered flash flooding that closed some roads and delayed schools from opening. Credit: Facebook/San Antonio Zoo
