The mixed-use complex will occupy 3.5 hectares of land and also functions as a node to connect terminals 1, 2 and 3. It is designed to be architecturally iconic due to its steel and glass façade. The idea was produced by a team of designers, led by renowned Israeli-Canadian architect, Moshe Safdie, who designed Marina Bay Sands.

Changi Airport Group (CAG) unveiled plans for a mixed-use complex codenamed “Project Jewel” on Monday, after it was first mentioned by PM Lee during his National Day Rally. The complex will be built at the open air car park of Changi Airport’s Terminal 1 and will house an indoor garden complete with waterfall, shops and restaurants. CAG is planning to team up with shopping mall developer, CapitaMalls Asia, on the project..
