Footloose in Thailand's floating market

Every year Thailand’s Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, 110 km southwest of Bangkok, attracts a notable number of visitors. The surrounding area of Ratchaburi is exceptionally fertile and produces various fruits and vegetables including Malacca grape, Chinese grapefruits, mangoes, bananas and coconuts. Thai-style canoes loaded with fruit, vegetables, sweets and meats gently cruise the canal. Boat trips are available for sightseeing along smaller canals branching off from Damnoen Saduak. MITHUN BASAK takes you on a picturesque tour of this colourful market.
