PH-U.S. ties hit in Bonifacio Day protests

Various militant groups staged protests against continuing U.S. influence in the Philippines as the country observed Bonifacio Day Nov. 30.

Protesters assembled at Liwasang Bonifacio in Manila and marched towards the U.S. Embassy but were stopped by police.

Demonstrations were then held along Kalaw Avenue, where an effigy of President Benigno Aquino III as well as U.S. symbols were burnt.

Groups also marched to Mendiola near the Malacanan Palace where they continued their protest.
