The holy gust: Pope Francis battles the wind

Even the holiest of the holy are not immune from the unpredictable whims of Mother Nature. Whether it’s during his weekly address in St. Peter’s Square at the Vatican or one of his many open-air speeches to the faithful around the world, Pope Francis has struggled to keep his pontiff’s attire — a loose skull cap called a zucchetto and a ceremonial cape — from being blown askew by devilish gusts of wind. As photographers have documented over the years, he hasn’t always succeeded.
