Piers Morgan 'bans all cabinet ministers' from GMB after Dominic Cummings revelations
Piers Morgan has announced he is barring cabinet ministers from making appearances on Good Morning Britain after it surfaced Dominic Cummings allegedly broke coronavirus lockdown rules.
Mr Cummings, chief advisor to Boris Johnson, has faced sustained criticism and demands to resign in the wake of allegations he breached strict regulations the government has implemented to curb the spread of Covid-19.
Morgan vented his frustrations about the saga on Twitter and said the only cabinet ministers who would be allowed on his ITV show are those who did not back Mr Cummings’ alleged infringement of lockdown.
He tweeted: “In light of today’s developments, I am regretfully forced to ban all cabinet ministers from appearing on GMB until further notice.
“Only exceptions will be those who didn’t publicly support Cummings breaching a lockdown that the government forced on the rest of us ‘to save lives’”.
It comes after Morgan, famed for his deliberately controversial views, pledged to break lockdown rules and drive to see his parents if Mr Johnson does not fire Mr Cummings.
“If Boris doesn’t fire Cummings today, then I will deem the Lockdown over & drive down to see my parents (from a 2m distance) for the first time in 12 weeks,” he tweeted. “I’m not having one rule for these clowns & another for the rest of us.”
Morgan, who was previously editor of US Mail Online, also accused the senior advisor, who has insisted he “behaved reasonably and legally” in response to criticism, of “despicable hypocrisy”.
