Piers Morgan has said he is looking forward to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s “woke” Netflix content in the same way he looks forward to painful root canal surgery at the dentist.

The 55-year-old has been a regular critic of the couple, and he made fun of their upcoming move into television after landing a Netflix deal in a recent interview.

Speaking to Sunday Mirror, he said: “I am looking forward to all their woke documentaries with the kind of enthusiasm I look forward to having root canal surgery at the dentist.”

The Good Morning Britain co-host has regularly used his platform to hit out at the couple, with a particular emphasis on Markle who he accused of “ghosting” him after she met Prince Harry.

In August he called for the pair to be stripped of their royal titles after Markle urged people to vote in the 2020 US presidential election.

He tweeted at the time: “The Queen must strip the Sussexes of their titles.

“They can’t remain as royals and spout off about foreign elections in such a brazenly partisan way.”

He later added: “She can do what she likes, she just can’t make politically partisan statements while remaining Duchess of Sussex.

“The royals are not allowed to do that. If Meghan & Harry truly want ‘freedom’ from royal duty & rules, they should stop trading off their royal titles.”

He took aim at the couple a few weeks before that too, writing in his Mail Online column: “It’s hard to think of anyone in public life right now more relentlessly miserable, angry and negative than the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.... They’ve become serial victims, intent on painting themselves as the most hard-done-by people on God’s earth.

“Yet the more they complain, as the rest of the world struggles with the very real hell of the worst pandemic for 100 years, the more they expose themselves as a pair of appallingly bitter, staggeringly self-obsessed, utterly deluded, and woefully tone-deaf laughing stocks.”
