Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid are returning to Good Morning Britain.

Following a long summer away from our screens, ITV has finally confirmed when the pair will be back in a new ad.

As of Monday next week (September 4), the presenting duo – along with showbiz guru Richard Arnold and weather girl Laura Tobin – will all once again be fronting the breakfast show.

Richard Madeley, Jeremy Kyle and Eamonn Holmes have been filling in for Piers over the last six weeks.

Meanwhile, Ranvir Singh and Charlotte Hawkins have stepped in for Susanna.

Rumours had suggested that Piers and Susanna might not be returning to the show. However, the pair always take an annual summer break between July and early September.

The news that they are returning will undoubtedly come as a pleasant surprise for viewers who have been taking to Twitter calling for them to come back.

"ITV breakfast TV has going to the pits boring bring back Piers Morgan Susanna Reid," wrote one.

Another added: "@GMB can't wait for Piers & Susanna to return it's so cheesy at the moment & boring! When are they back it's been ages....."

And a third tweeted: "You are slowly undoing all the good work that Susanna & Piers have been doing for a couple of years this summer, congrats."

Another added: "What a tough week!! Just hope to see Susana Reid and Piers Morgan back on GMB!!#brightenupmymonth."

This week on Good Morning Britain, Love Island winners Kem Cetinay and Amber Davies have been filling in for Richard to present the showbiz segment of the show.

Given the fact Piers has never made secret how much he detests programmes like Love Island, perhaps it's just as well he's not in the office.

We reckon he may have something to say about the casting once he returns on Monday...

Good Morning Britain is on ITV weekdays at 6am.
