Pilot Community Care apartments in first BTO exercise of the year
SINGAPORE — The first batch of Community Care apartments was launched for sale on Thursday (4 February), among 3,740 flats under the Housing Development Board’s (HDB) first Build-To-Order (BTO) exercise of the year.
The 169 pilot Community Care apartments – jointly announced by the Ministry of National Development, the Ministry of Health and HDB on 10 December last year – are housed in a 15-storey residential block at Harmony Village @ Bukit Batok, and will offer seniors aged 65 years and above an affordable housing option, which integrates senior-friendly design features with care services.
There will also be services and programmes for social interactions among the residents.
Seniors can apply for priority flat allocation if at least one applicant or essential occupier requires permanent assistance with his/her activities of daily living.
They can also choose to jointly ballot for two flats with another household, such as a family member or friend. If successful, both households will be able to book their flats together.
All successful applicants will have to subscribe to and pay for a Basic Service Package, which will enable them to enjoy various services such as 24-hour emergency response and dedicated programming. An onsite community manager will also assist with arranging care and support services, simple home fixes, and organise activities according to residents’ preferences.
Flats across 7 projects for this BTO exercise
The flats on offer for this BTO exercise are spread across seven projects in Bukit Batok, Tengah, Kallang Whampoa and Toa Payoh (Bidadari).
While a wide selection of flats is offered to meet diverse housing needs, the two-room flexi flats at McNair Heights are offered only to seniors (aged 55 and above) on short leases of between 15 and 45 years (in five-year increments), in view of the care services and facilities in the vicinity.
Eligible first-timer families can benefit from the Enhanced CPF Housing Grant (EHG) of up to $80,000. With EHG, flat buyers will pay prices starting from $21,000 for a two-room Flexi flat, $100,000 for a three-room flat, $200,000 for a four-room flat, and $339,000 for a five-room flat.
Applications on HDB InfoWEB until 10 Feb
Applications for the flats can be made online on HDB InfoWEB from 4 to 10 February. Applicants can apply for only one flat type/category in one town under the BTO exercise.
Those who wish to take up an HDB housing loan for their flat purchase need to produce a valid HDB Loan Eligibility (HLE) letter when they book a flat, except for young couples who are eligible for deferment of income assessment.
HDB will shortlist applicants using a computer ballot, and not on a first-come-first-served basis. Applicants are encouraged to apply for a BTO flat in the non-mature towns to enjoy a higher chance of success in securing a flat.
All the information on the BTO flats on offer is available on the HDB InfoWEB. The number of applications received will also be updated regularly on the website.
HDB will continue with BTO exercises throughout the year. In May, it will be offering about 3,800 BTO flats in Bukit Merah, Geylang, Tengah and Woodlands. In August, it will offer about 4,900 BTO flats in Hougang, Jurong East, Kallang Whampoa, Queenstown and Tampines.
