Plant parents can build mini treehouses for their planters

If you love miniature crafts, Tiny Treehouses on Kickstarter might be a project worth supporting.

British-Australian 3D designer Lars Christian created the project. It’s a line of DIY treehouse model kits that integrate into planters (or anywhere else you want to display them).

The Tiny Treehouses come in a variety of styles, although each seems to reference traditional Japanese architecture which is characterized by its use of wood, integration with nature, elevated floor and thatched roofs.

The treehouses come in flat-pack timber model kits. To construct the miniatures you pluck each piece out of its board, then snap them together. Minimal glue is required and each house ranges in its level of difficulty. The treehouse can be hung from branches and planter rims or it can be embedded into the soil. But if you don’t have plants, every model comes with a base for flat surfaces. It also includes an LED light system with batteries — so these serve as cool nightlights too.

“Ever since I was little I loved arts and crafts. And now design has become a key tool for my self-expression,” Christian said on Kickstarter. “Designing a product and bringing it into market has been a huge ambition of mine since I was young. If you back this project, you are helping me achieve a very big dream.”

Tiny Treehouses has raised a whopping $133,000, surpassing its modest goal of $14,446. But there’s still time to donate and $25 gets you one of these bad boys.

For every treehouse sold the company will donate $1 towards restoring Australian forests.
