While the Vietnamese team were at the top of their game, it wasn’t enough for them to push beyond the top 5. Phong Vu Buffalo finished at sixth in the League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational tournament.

Ironically, the only team they managed to beat in the Group Stage was the tournament’s eventual champion, G2 Esports, with a 2-0 victory. They ended up with 0-2s for the rest of their fights.

Flash Wolves (League of Legends)

The Taiwanese team was at fifth, securing a 2-0 victory against Phong Vu Buffalo and getting a tie against the would-be second place winners of the tournament, Team Liquid.

While they lost their first fight against Team Liquid, the team picked up the pace with a great comeback.

SKT (League of Legends)

We can’t talk about this year’s Mid-Season Invitationals without any mention of one of Asia’s LoL juggernauts: SKT.

It’s a badge of honour for a team to take down this top-tier group, and in this year’s semifinals match, that privilege goes to European wildcard G2 Esports.

The European team, known for its unorthodox playstyle, manage to last a few rounds against SKT in a well-fought best of 5 game series. The Korean team’s draft wasn’t up to snuff when compared to G2’s esoteric picks.

Still, SKT were no slouches in the overall tournament. Plays like this prove that Faker is still the best player in LoL.

With a ton of crazy plays, it’s no surprise the match garnered a peak viewership of over 1.7 million on Twitch, YouTube, and other broadcasting channels (via Esports Charts).
