MANILA, Philippines — Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police Director General Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa led the 116th Police Service Anniversary in Zamboanga City on Thursday.

In his speech, PNP chief Dela Rosa gave an order to the policemen about their new mission to go after riding in tandem criminals.

“Let’s focus on riding-in-tandem criminals. We are no longer in the drugs war. Let’s find these riding-in-tandem criminals and finish them off. These fools are the ones destroying us,” he said.

Meanwhile, Dela Rosa refused to comment on the status of the anti-drug campaign of the government under the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

During the event, the PNP proudly announced that beginning next year, cops will receive salary raise and new equipment like police patrol vehicles.

Dela Rosa said that the conduct of internal cleansing among the ranks of the police will remain so the public’s trust to the PNP will return.

“Let us continue to prove to our countrymen that the PNP is composed of more good men and women than scalawags. Let’s not allow the total destruction of the name of the organization just because of the corruption of some cops,” said the chief.

Also, during the ceremony, the PNP gave recognition to several deserving cops, police units, non-uniformed personnel and it also gave special awards to the representatives of the Police Regional Office 9. — Victor Cosare | UNTV News & Rescue
