PNPA Masidlak Class of 2017 top-notchers with PDG Ronald dela Rosa
PNP Chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa has advised the PNPA Masidlak Class of 2017 to become role models and not to be blinded by money.
“Huwag kayong mamili ng assignment. Huwag kayong lumapit sa mga pulitiko or mga influential government officials para makiusap na i-assign kayo sa ganung unit… huwag magpasilaw sa pera. Kapag namatay kayo hindi nyo madala ang pera sa langit,” said PDG Dela Rosad.
(Don’t be selective in your assignments. Don’t seek help from politicians or influential government officials to have you assigned in a particular unit. You cannot bring your money to heaven when you die.)
This has been the strict reminder of PNP Chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa to graduating students of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) Masidlak Class of 2017 amid the controversies the institution is facing.
It can be recalled that cops allegedly involved in illegal activities have been making headlines. Bato said they are the ones destroying the image of the institution.
One hundred forty-four of the total 335 PNPA cadets will graduate this year. Six of the ten topnotcher cadets are from Mindanao — one of them is a woman.
Six of the top ten want to be assigned in police service, two at the Bureau of Fire, and another two at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology.
“In the PNPA we work out on the core values of justice, integrity and service. This is what molds us public safety officers and we can assure the public we can serve, we can even risk our own lives to serve the country,” said Cadet Macdum Engca, valedictorian of PNPA Masidlak Class of 2017.
Meanwhile, the PNP Chief is proud of his son’s decision to enter the PNPA after passing the entrance exam.
Bato said he believes in the capabilities of his son, Rock dela Rosa. However, the police chief said that as a father, he is also worried.
“Pero siya anak siya ng chief pnp kaya iba na rin yung psychological kwan niya. Medyo kwan lang ako apprehensive but anyway. Pabayaan ko siya kung ano gusto niya sa buhay. Sabi ko sa kanya desisyon mo yan huwag kang padalos dalos. Kung desidido ka, go ahead kung alangain ka huwag ituloy.” he said.
(He is the son of the Chief PNP, so his psychological capability is also different. I’m just a bit apprehensive but anyway, I’ll let him decide whatever he wants to do with his life. I told him, that’s your decision and don’t rush. If you’re sure about it, go for it. But if you waiver, don’t pursue it.) — Grace Casin | UNTV News & Rescue
