PNP chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa has signed the recommendation of the PNP Internal Affairs Service (IAS) against Superintendent Marvin Marcos and his co-accused.
PNP Directorate for Personnel and Records Management PCSupt. Rene Aspera said they are currently processing the possible dismissal of the erring cops.
“May nire-resolve pa ang IAS for this case (IAS has something left to resolve for this case). But the folder that we received only demotion and suspension,” he said.
Meanwhile, Dela Rosa vows to stand by the results of the PNP’s investigation on the case.
This, following President Rodrigo Duterte’s recent pronouncement that he might pardon policemen who would be convicted in the performance of their duties.
The PNP chief said the President never intervenes in the process and investigation of the police.
But Dela Rosa noted that he has no say if the chief executive decides to pardon cops who might face dismissal.
“Iba naman ang papel namin at ng President, i-persecute yung mga allegedly wrong doers at ang Presidente to grant pardon to the people that he believes na just performing his duty (Our roles are different from that of the president. Our role is to persecute the allegedly wrong doers while the President grants pardon to the people he believes are just performing their duty),” he said. – Grace Casin | UNTV News & Rescue
