The latest Pokémon GO event, Twinkling Fantasy, is here! And this time, Dragon and Fairy-type Pokémon are the stars of the show.
The event will be from 10 January at 8am SGT until 16 January at 10pm SGT, during which players can catch more Dragon and Fairy type Pokémon like Togetic, Clefairy, Jigglypuff, Dratini, and more, or get photobombed by them at least twice a day.
Best of all, Mega Salamence is making its debut in Mega Raids!
What other things can you look forward to in this event? Here’s everything you should know.
Trainers who participate while Twinkling Fantasy is ongoing will get a variety of bonuses, especially if they successfully catch a Pokémon with a Nice Throw, Great Throw, or Excellent Throw.
You can get Double XP and Bonus Candy, and if you’re level 31 or above, you get a higher chance of receiving Candy XL too.
Say cheese! Take a lot of snapshots during the event period because you might get a surprise encounter. Expect to get photobombed by a Dratini or Jigglypuff at least twice a day during the event period.
Trainers take note, any Zekrom you manage to snag between 10am on 10 January and 10am 18 January local time will have learned the Fusion Bolt (Electric-type), with a 90 power in Trainer Battles and 140 power in Gym and raids. It's a skill that deals twice as much damage Reshiram's Fusion flare.
Most of the time, a Zekrom you catch will have Wild Charge instead of Fusion Bolt, and while the former may be better in some situations, there's no harm keeping the latter skill handy, if you want to a beat a Mewtwo or two.
Mega Salamence will appear in Event Raids
The newest Raid Pokémon, Mega Salamence, will debut in this event.
During the length of the event, this Dragon/Flying type Pokémon can be encountered in Mega Raids. Defeating it will give you Salamence Mega Energy and other in-game rewards.
In addition, the Pokémon discovered in all levels of Raids will change, all in keeping with the event's Dragon and Fairy-type theme.
One-Star Raids will feature Jigglypuff, Marill, Axew, and Deino. Three-Star raids will have Mawile, Druddigon, and Dedenne. Zekrom will be featured in Five-Star raids. And finally, Mega Salamence will appear in Mega Raids.
More Fairy-type and Dragon-type Pokémon will appear in the wild like Clefairy, Clefable, Jigglypuff, Dratini, Togetic, Marill, Ralts, Vibrava, Bago, Deino and Dedene.
And, you might encounter a Goomy or Noibat if you’re lucky.
Shiny Dedenne will be made available to lucky Trainers for the first time too, so make sure to keep hunting during the event!
