SEGAMAT: Police has obtained a four-day remand order to detain a 32-year-old nurse and her husband to assist with investigations over a claim that she was kidnapped and wrongfully confined.

Magistrate Juliana Jaafar ordered for the woman to be remanded until Monday under Sections 363 and 342 of the Penal Code.

The woman and her 40-year-old husband, who is unemployed, were earlier brought to the Segamat magistrate's court at about 11am today accompanied by policemen.

Yesterday, Johor police chief Datuk Seri Wan Ahmad Najmuddin Mohd had said that the mystery surrounding the woman's disappearance has been solved when police discovered that the woman had married the man (who was said to have kidnapped her) in Thailand.

The couple was arrested with the help of the Kota Star district police in Kedah at about 9.30pm on Wednesday.

On March 31, the woman's father lodged a police report stating that his daughter, who works at Sultanah Aminah Hospital had gone missing.

In relation to the case, a Whatsapp message, claiming that the nurse had been kidnapped and was threatened, had also gone viral.
