Local police are disputing Chris Pratt’s claims that a couple of frozen bodies were found at the shooting location of his new film.

The actor told Ellen DeGeneres on Wednesday that a preserved couple had been found at the site of an Icelandic glacier where he was filming The Tomorrow War, a sci-fi military action film scheduled for release later this year.

“When we got up there, they had just uncovered – and this is crazy – a couple weeks before, a couple had been found in a fissure that they had fallen down, and they had been in there for over 80 years,” he said.

“...They were fully preserved in their glacier hiking clothes from whatever that would be – 1930 or 1940. They had their supplies, their rations. They were lovers and they fell down in a hole and just went missing.”

According to a local media report, however, local authorities do not recall such an incident.

“I am not aware of this,” police officer Jón Garðar Bjarnason told Fréttablaðið, an Icelandic daily newspaper.

The officer is also quoted as saying: ”It sounds like an exciting movie script.”

“I do not recognise this issue, but the story is good,” another police officer, Oddur Árnason, told the publication.

The Independent has contacted Pratt’s representatives for comment.

A similar story to the one recounted by Pratt occurred in July 2017, when the bodies of a Swiss couple were found in an Alpine glacier, 75 years after the pair went missing.

Marcelin and Francine Dumoulin hadn’t been seen since 1942.
