Police, Firefighters Join March Against Vaccine Mandate in New York City

Thousands of New York City municipal workers, including firefighters, police officer, teachers and sanitation workers, marched on Monday, October 25, in protest against a COVID-19 vaccine mandate for city employees.

Mayor Bill de Blasio announced the COVID-19 vaccine mandate on October 20, which applies to approximately 160,500 city workers. The deadline for vaccination was set for 5 pm on October 29.

Footage from protester Joe DiGiacomo shows a mass of people crossing the Brooklyn Bridge, many holding anti-vaccine placards, as well as people singing and chanting in City Hall Park.

“There’s a lot of people here,” DiGiacomo says to the camera. “De Blasio, you better make up your mind.”
