KOTA BARU: Police have detained four men to assist with investigations into the murder of an elderly woman at her home in Kampung Mengkebang, Kuala Krai yesterday.
Acting Kelantan police chief Senior Commissioner Din Ahmad said the four, aged between 30 and 40, were picked up by the police separately in Kuala Krai areas.
"Police detained the four between 10pm last night and 4am this morning to facilitate its investigation into the murder of 61-year-old Rokiah Mamat," he told reporters today.
Din said the case is being investigated under Section 302 of Penal Code.
The woman was found dead on the kitchen floor at her home, believed to have been killed by robbers who had broken into the home.
Rokiah was alone at home when a robbery was said to have taken place. Her body was discovered by her son, a teacher who had just returned home at about 3.30pm. She was found lying face down on the kitchen floor.
Upon returning home, the victim's son also found the gate and front door of the house left ajar and that the house had been ransacked.
