SERDANG: Police today said they will investigate the dog abuse case in Taman Melody, Bandar Kinrara in Puchong.

Serdang police chief assistant Commissioner Megat Mohd Aminuddin said that the investigations are on-going.

He said the Singaporean man who had allegedly abused the dog in the video and the security guard, who witnessed the incident, had lodged police reports at the Bandar Kinrara police station.

Two other reports were also lodged by two individuals who had watched a CCTV footage of the abuse. Another report was filed by an enforcement officer from the Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) Selangor.

"Police will investigate the case under Section 323 and 506 of the Penal Code," he said.

Megat said based on the reports, the DVS will also be investigating the case under Animals Act 1953.

He also appealed to members of the public to give authorities time and space to thoroughly investigate the matter.

In the 8.50pm incident on Sunday, a CCTV footage which captured the attack on the dog, went viral and sparked outrage on social media.

The video showed a man driven by rage as he continuously slapped and punched the dog. At one point he was also seen bashing the dog with a motorcycle helmet.
