KOTA BARU: Four police reports were lodged by individuals against Kelantan Islamic Affairs and Religious Department (JAHEAIK) following its operation on Syiah followers on the recent Merdeka night. Kelantan Deputy Police Chief Datuk Din Ahmad said the reports were lodged separately at Kota Baru district police station in Pengkalan Chepa. He said one of the reports was lodged on Sept 2 while the other three following day (Sept 3). “The reports were lodged among others because the complainants were not satisfied with the actions taken by JAHEAIK on Merdeka night. “Others were not happy of being accused as Syiah followers,” he told NSTP when contacted today. Din said the reports were referred to JAHEAIK for further action. It is learnt that one of those who lodged the report was a man who was allegedly Syiah leader in the state. On Sept 30, JAHEAIK officers, assisted by the police, raided a location suspected to be Syiah office and arrested more than 40 people including children in an operation at Jalan Sri Cemerlang, here. During the operation, the group that comprised of men and women were found to be conducting activities which was against Islamic teachings.
