Police solve murder case in less than 24 hours


KUALA LUMPUR: Police wrapped up their investigation into a murder of a man with the arrest of a businessman, believed to be the main suspect behind the case.

In the murder case, a 39-year-old man was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head in a three-storey house in Bandar Tun Hussein Onn, Cheras here at 5am today.

Initial investigation revealed that the victim from Jalan Ipoh had come to the businessman’s home just after midnight to meet a friend of the businessman.

At about 3am, the businessman had claimed he heard a gunshot sound coming from the third floor of the house.

He claimed that he had rushed upstairs, only to find the victim sprawled on the floor, with a gunshot wound on his forehead and a gun in his right hand.

The businessman then said he immediately lodged a report at the nearest police station.

Kajang police chief Assistant Commissioner Othman Nanyan said following report, police had rounded up 13 people aged between 59 and 30, including the businessman, his wife and maid, to assist in the probe.

Othman said police also seized the gun and took samples from 11 individuals who were at the scene to test for gunshot residue.

After further investigation, Othman revealed that the case, investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, was solved following the arrest of the main suspect on the same day.

The investigation paper will be forwarded to the deputy public prosecutor for the next course of action.
