Popular Penang-style rojak, Lim Bo 林伯 Fresh Fruits Rojak, closing down on 15 Oct 2022

Lim Bo 林伯 Fresh Fruits Rojak will be closing for good on 15 Oct 2022. This marks the end of a year and a half of serving fresh fruit Penang-style rojak.

Lim Bo 林伯 Fresh Fruits Rojak started out in April 2021 at Sin Ming, which closed down on 16 July 2022. Unfortunately, its second outlet at 64 Joo Chiat Place will follow suit and close as well.

In a Facebook post by Lim Bo 林伯 Fresh Fruits Rojak, they mentioned how their Joo Chiat stall was located in an inconvenient location and as a result, the footfall of the coffeeshop they were located in had fallen by 40% over the months.

That, coupled with the rising costs that they had to absorb without increasing their prices, were factors that went into the eventual closure of their Joo Chiat outlet.

Lim Bo 林伯 Fresh Fruits Rojak - Penang Rojak

Lim Bo 林伯 Fresh Fruits Rojak is known for its Penang-style rojak. The owner, Mr Leong, obtained the recipe from a mobile rojak stall seller of more than 40 years in Kuala Lumpur during a family trip. He made three trips back and forth from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur just to perfect his rojak.

How Mr Leong’s Penang-style rojak differs from the usual Singaporean ones is through its sauce, which is cooked with prawn paste brought in from Penang. He then adds his own crispy prawn fritters. Additionally, the fruits he uses are painstakingly in accordance to their ripeness.

There are three items on the menu: Small Rojak (S$5) has your standard rojak with you tiao. Medium Rojak (S$8) has extra fruits with extra you tiao or prawn fritters. Finally, the Rojak Platter (S$10) includes extra fruits, extra you tiao and prawn fritters.

Mr Leong did not mention if there are any future plans for the stall, so do to get your Penang-style rojak before it closes (potentially for good) on 15 Oct 2022!
