Population in Cavite tops 4 M

Trece Martires City, Cavite — The population of historical Cavite is now over four million and continues to increase with the influx of settling migrants from Metro Manila and other neighboring areas.

The traffic jams along the more than 40-kilometer stretch Aguinaldo Highway, particularly in the cities of Dasmariñas, Imus and Bacoor, during rush hours and the reported off-and-on crime incidents in the turf can be attributed to the number of the people in the area.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) reported that crimes and other unwanted incidents, including road accidents, are more prevalent in populous areas.

Officials said that population grows tremendously with the working sites that have increased through the years, notably the industrial establishments in EPZA (Economic Processing Zone Authority) area in Rosario, General Trias, Carmona and Dasmariñas, as well as housing projects and educational institutions in the province.
