Mighty Morphin Power Rangers star Amy Jo Johnson has addressed why she won't appear in the upcoming Netflix special.

The actress, who plays Kimberly Hart AKA the Pink Ranger on the hugely popular 1990s TV show, won't star in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once and Always, which will premiere on the streamer on April 19.

"Please stop saying I didn't do reunion because of money," the actress wrote on Twitter.

"Simply not true. Maybe I just didn't want to wear spandex in my 50s or couldn't go to NZ for a month. Or none of ur beeswax," she added.

Johnson also weighed in on the absence of her later co-star Jason David Frank, who played Green Ranger Tommy. The actor died by suicide last November.

"JDF & I both chose not to for our own reasons. They filmed before he passed," Johnson continued.

This isn't the first time the actress has spoken about not returning in the role. In January this year, she explained she wasn't happy with the offer presented to her.

"For the record I never said no... I just didn't say yes to what was offered. But other fun stuff is in store! Looking forward to watching my friends kick ass!" she tweeted at the time.

Marking the TV series' 30th anniversary, Netflix's special reunites original cast members Walter E. Jones (Zack, Black Ranger), David Yost (Billy, Blue Ranger), Catherine Sutherland (Kat, Pink Ranger), Steve Cardenas (Rocky, Red Ranger), Karan Ashley (Aisha, Yellow Ranger), and Johnny Yong Bosch (Adam, Black Ranger).

Promising plenty of Easter eggs, the episode will see the rangers "face-to-face with a familiar threat from the past".

"In the midst of a global crisis, they are called on once again to be the heroes the world needs," the official synopsis also reads.
