Practitioners from 13 countries to converge in M'sia for life insurance congress

PETALING JAYA: More than 5,000 life insurance practitioners from 13 countries are expected to attend the 16th Asia Pacific Life Insurance Congress (ALPIC) 2017.

Organised by the National Association of Life Insurance and Family Takaful Advisors (NAMLIFA), the congress is a biennial event co-hosted by the Asia Pacific Financial Services Association member countries to honour the industry’s best insurance professionals and financial advisors.

“The participation would make the largest financial services congress in this region,” said NAMLIFA organising chairman, Tang Kia Sing adding that the participated countries including Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, India, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, Macau, Japan, Australia, China and Malaysia.

“As we target more than 60 per cent of foreign participation, the inflow of participants will also boost the tourism industry in Malaysia, which will have a direct and spillover effect on the local economy,” he said at a press conference held in One World Hotel here.

Present also at the press conference was Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) chief executive officer, Datuk Zulkefli Sharif.

“Malaysia’s hosting of this important and highly-anticipated industry event is testament to the efforts being made to position our country as a premier destination for business events.

“We are very much looking forward to showcasing our remarkable country to the thousands of delegates who will be attending,” he said.

The congress which will be held from 17th to 19th of May this year at Genting Highlands Resort World is the third time for Malaysia as the host country.
