Premier League latest on Project Restart: Players, managers, PFA and LMA hold talks ahead of Wednesday’s vote

Premier League clubs will vote on proposals for a return to contact training on Wednesday in what will prove a decisive week for Project Restart.

Club captains and managers are to be consulted on the proposals with representatives from both the PFA and LMA today ahead of the 20 clubs meeting as Project Restart plans continue to gather pace amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Results of the latest round of Covid-19 testing, which are due to be finalised today, will also be published on Wednesday.

It is expected that twice-weekly testing will continue rather than be ramped up further, and the proposals will include what to do in the event of a positive test once contact training has restarted.

Ahead of the publication of those results, Bournemouth goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has revealed he has tested positive for coronavirus just days are receiving a negative test result .

The 22-year-old told the Sun: "It's definitely a shock - I've not been in contact with anybody and I've now got it," he said.

"I'm showing no symptoms so the fact that a healthy young person could potentially have it is definitely scary and worrying."

The final meeting of the week, scheduled for Thursday, will see representatives from each of the Premier League’s 20 clubs discuss the wider details of Project Restart.

This will include the possibility of curtailing the season, and how that process would work should it be required at a later date.

Tuesday May 26

Club captains, managers, the PFA and the LMA will hold talks over whether they are happy to resume close-contact training.

Wednesday May 27

Following on from Tuesday’s discussions, Premier League clubs to vote on whether to resume close-contact training.

Thursday May 28

Broader details of Project Restart will be discussed with representatives of each of the 20 Premier League clubs, including how a curtailment of the 2019-20 season would work if that course of action is required. The use of home or neutral venues will also be discussed.
