The podcast hosted by the late BBC presenter Rachael Bland has been honoured with an award, just one month after her passing.

The BBC Radio 5 live newsreader sadly passed away back in September, at the age of 40, from breast cancer.

The podcast that she co-hosted with two colleagues, titled You, Me and the Big C, was the recipient of the Best New Show award at the Audio & Radio Industry Awards (the UK ARIAs), held on Thursday.

As the people behind the podcast accepted their award, they dedicated it to Rachael and her family and said it "means more to us than you will ever know".

Deborah James, one of the hosts, wrote on her Instagram: "So we only went and won the #ARiAS2018 for best new show for You, Me and the Big C.

"I can't actually believe this so apologies for short message. I'm beyond proud and I know Rach is too. Oh and I also found out today my book is a bestseller.

"Right now I'm crying, partying and wondering if I picked up someone else's life instead! Thank you to all of you for your incredible support. Cancer please go f**k yourself now."

Rachael's husband Steve also shared a message online after the win, writing: "What an incredible night we had at the @radioacademy #UKARIAS18. So very proud to pick up this award with these brilliant people @bowelbabe @GIRLSTOLELONDON @MikeHolt12.

"I know Rachael would have been so proud too."

The ARIAs were also host to a bizarre moment when BBC 1Xtra DJ Charlie Sloth did a Kanye West and invaded the stage to interrupt someone else's award win.
