Calling all Potterheads: Primark has launched a Harry Potter themed advent calendar for Christmas and it’s seriously magical.

Last year the retailer sold an advent calendar inspired by the Hogwarts Express, complete with miniature maroon train carriages.

But for this year's Christmas countdown, Primark is selling a festive calendar inspired by the iconic school of witchcraft and wizardry.

The wooden castle is designed to look like a section of Hogwarts, with turrets, tiny windows and 24 draws in the colours of the four Hogwarts houses; red for Gryffindor, green for Slytherin, blue for Ravenclaw and yellow for Hufflepuff.

Some of the draws also feature illustrations from the stories, including a snitch and a lightening bolt.

The draws do not come filled, which means you can add whatever you like to the advent calendar.

The calendar is set to arrive in selected stores across the UK this week, and costs £16.

Primark announced the news of the launch on social media, writing: “This year’s coveted Harry Potter calendar is making its way into stores. When the autumn term draws to a close, make sure you have this Hogwarts advent calendar on-hand to start the Christmas countdown in wizarding style.

"Fill the drawers with all kinds of treats – this will be a Christmas tradition you can continue for years to come!”

Harry Potter fans have been sharing their delight at the magical DIY advent calendar, with one person writing: “@primark just saw your Harry Potter Christmas Advent Calendar. Wow. I have to get this now that I've seen it. Fluffy pyjamas and Harry Potter at Christmas, sounds perfect.”
