  • Prince Charles and Duchess Meghan have a close father-daughter bond, according to the new Sussex-centered biography, Finding Freedom.

  • Meghan "found such a supportive and loving father in Charles, which has really changed her life for the better," a source revealed.

The newest Sussex-centered biography, Finding Freedom, details the events that led to Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan's decision to leave royal life behind, but their stepping down doesn't mean they haven't remained close with their family across the pond.

The book examines the bond between Prince Charles and his daughter-in-law Meghan, and according to friends close to the royals, the Duke of Cornwall has served as a supportive father figure to the duchess.

Meghan "found such a supportive and loving father in Charles, which has really changed her life for the better," claimed a friend of the prince's, per an excerpt. "He likes very strong, confident women. She's bright, and she's self-aware, and I can see why they've struck up a very quick friendship. … Most of all, she's married to his most beloved youngest son and made him whole. Charles takes enormous delight and pleasure in that."

The biography also revealed that Charles keeps a framed photograph at his Clarence House residence of himself walking Meghan down the aisle at her and Harry's wedding in 2018. Charles famously escorted Meghan to the altar following a very public fallout with her father, Thomas Markle, resulting in him not attending her special day.

Per Finding Freedom's coauthor and BAZAAR.com's royal editor, Omid Scobie, both Meghan and Harry keep in touch with Charles from their new home in California.

"Harry keep relations with other members of the royal family and speaking with her majesty the queen on a regular basis. Both he and Meghan and [their son] Archie regularly Zoom with Prince Charles, and we know that his coronavirus battle really brought them together, so, relationships are moving forward beyond the ending of this book," explained Scobie.
