Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Clarify Rumors About a Potential Reality TV Show

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may be jumping into the television biz, but reality TV stardom is definitely a no-go.

ICYMI: The Duke and Duchess of Sussex recently nabbed a production deal with Netflix. And, upon learning the news, British tabloid The Sun reported that Harry and Meghan were set to star in their own reality show, as part of said deal. Of course, it didn’t take long for the couple to put those rumors to bed.

“The duke and duchess are not taking part in any reality shows,” a spokesperson for the couple said in a statement. Short, sweet and to the point.

We first learned of the Netflix deal earlier this month. According to The New York Times, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex founded an unnamed production company and signed a major deal with the platform. Per the report, the streaming service will pay the couple to make “documentaries, docu-series, feature films, scripted shows and children’s programming.” And it seems like the majority of the work they will be doing will be behind the camera.

“Our lives, both independent of each other, and as a couple have allowed us to understand the power of the human spirit: of courage, resilience, and the need for connection. Through our work with diverse communities and their environments, to shining a light on people and causes around the world, our focus will be on creating content that informs but also gives hope,” the couple said in a statement. “As new parents, making inspirational family programming is also important to us, as is powerful storytelling through a truthful and relatable lens. We are pleased to work with Ted and the team at Netflix whose unprecedented reach will help us share impactful content that unlocks action.”

So, while there will be no Keeping Up with the Sussexes, we’re still looking forward to what these two bring to the small screen.
