Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Have Found the Negotiation Process of Their Departure "Saddening"
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle started off 2020 with the announcement that they were seeking reduced roles within the royal family, aiming to split their time between North America and the UK. Over the last two months, the couple have actively negotiated a transition to their new, more private lives with the royal family and today, the couple launched a new page on their Sussex Royal website focusing on their Spring 2020 transition, which details the changes in their roles, as well as describes the process as one which both the Duke and Duchess found "saddening."
Upon their original announcement that they would be stepping back, Prince Harry and Meghan had evidently hoped to remain as working members of the royal family, but with scaled back roles. However, following negotiations, it was announced that the Sussexes would no long be considering full-time working members of the royal family, and further, would not be allowed to use the word "royal" as the brand name of their website or charitable entities. They will also no longer be able to use HRH in front of their titles.
Beyond that, it has also been confirmed that the Duke will no longer perform any duties as they pertain to his military roles, but will continue to support the military community with the Invictus Games Foundation and The Endeavor Fund.

Over the last month and a half, The Duke and Duchess have remained actively involved in this process, which has understandably been a saddening for The Duke and Duchess and their loyal staff, given the closeness of Their Royal Highnesses and their dedicated team.
