The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have responded to claims that they're set to star in a new show for Netflix. The pair recently signed a huge multi-year deal with the streaming site to produce feature films, scripted shows, documentaries and children’s programming.

This week, reports began swirling that Prince Harry and Meghan would offer fans a glimpse into their lives as part of the agreement. It was suggested that cameras would follow them for three months as part of a fly-on-the-wall series, which would be "tasteful" and "focus on their charity work".

However, the couple have released a statement denying the rumours. A spokesperson told The Independent: “The Duke and Duchess are not taking part in any reality shows.” Instead, they are working on a nature docu-series as well as an animated series that celebrates inspiring women.

Despite being a professional actress prior to her life as a royal, Meghan will not be acting in any of the projects, Harper's Bazaar US has confirmed, with a source also adding that the former royals are pledging to commit to diverse hires on and off camera.

"Our focus will be on creating content that informs but also gives hope," Harry and Meghan explained in a statement at the time of the original Netflix announcement. "As new parents, making inspirational family programming is also important to us."

The couple added that Netflix's "unprecedented reach" — a massive audience that's currently 193 million subscribers strong — "will help [them to] share impactful content that unlocks action".
