The newlywed – who tied the knot with Italian property developer Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in a small private ceremony at Royal Lodge in Windsor on 17 July – chose to wear a vintage dress by the designer Norman Hartnell for her big day, which was lent to her by her grandmother, the Queen.

The beautiful ivory dress, made of peau de soie taffeta with a skirt trimmed in ivory duchesse satin – was altered for Beatrice's wedding under the guidance of Angela Kelly, Personal Advisor, Dresser and Curator to The Queen, and British fashion designer Stewart Parvin.

To make the dress feel more modern, its full-skirted silhouette was softened and the shape simplified, while the underskirt and petticoats were recreated and bound with silk tulle, according to the Royal Collection Trust. Short sleeves of triple organza were also added to the straps, and embroidered with vintage diamantés to match the original embroidery design.

Now, royal fans will get a chance to see the beautiful piece up close for themselves at the Royal's Collection's new display.
