Lady Amelia Spencer's Wedding Dress Had a Special Connection to Her Aunt, Princess Diana
Lady Amelia Spencer, the daughter of Princess Diana’s brother, and the younger sister of Lady Kitty Spencer, married Greg Mallett on March 21, 2023 in a mountain-top ceremony at at Quoin Rock Manor House in South Africa.
"It means so much to get married here," Amelia told Hello. "Growing up here together for the last 14 years, all of mine and Greg’s happiest times as a couple are here. It’s even more special now."
Kitty was reportedly in attendance, as well as Amelia's twin sister Eliza, and their mother, Victoria Lockwood. Amelia was walked down the aisle by her brother, Samuel, as her father was unable to attend.
In an exclusive interview with Hello, Amelia revealed that her wedding dress had a special connection with her late aunt, Princess Diana. The bespoke gown, made from custom silk rebrodé lace, was crafted for her by Versace—a design house that was particularly close to Diana's heart through her friendship with Gianni Versace.
"I think [Diana] would be very proud to see me on my wedding day," Amelia told the publication. "I know the Versace family also absolutely love Diana, so there's a very special connection that we have."She added, "I'm the luckiest girl in the world. It's honestly the most beautiful dress I’ve ever seen. It’s been the happiest experience working with Versace. Every single member of their team were like angels."
Mallett, who is a health and fitness professional, had previously shared a hint about the date in a recent Instagram post. "I did a thing for you. 4 months until I marry the love of my life!" he wrote in the caption to a video montage of Amelia in November 2022.
Amelia responded on the post with a comment, writing "Ahhhhhh this is so special! I love you with all my heart angel 🤗❤️ I can’t wait for ♾️ with you"
The couple, who reportedly met at the University of Cape Town, got engaged at at Clouds Estate in Stellenbosch, South Africa almost three years ago after 11 years of dating. At the time, Mallett shared the news on social media, writing "So this was the best day of my life. 22nd of July 2020, I asked the love of my life to spend the rest of her life with me and she said YES. Couldn’t be happier and I love you with all my heart"
Amelia echoed the sentiment in her own post of the photo with the caption "22 July 2020❤️ Best day of my life ❤️ I can’t wait to spend forever with you I couldn’t love you more"
