Princess Eugenie and husband Jack Brooksbank are expecting their first child.

Buckingham Palace confirmed the happy news this morning via an announcement from the Royal Family Twitter account, revealing that a new royal baby is due in early 2021.

"Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank are very pleased to announce that they are expecting a baby in early 2021," the statement read.

"The Duke of York and Sarah, Duchess of York, Mr and Mrs George Brooksbank, The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh are delighted with the news."

The princess then confirmed the news with a post on Instagram. She is one of the few members of the royal family to have a public, verified Instagram account.

"Jack and I are so excited for early 2021..." she wrote, alongside a picture of a tiny pair of fluffy teddy bear slippers.

The couple celebrated their 10th anniversary together back in April, and commemorated the milestone by sharing new photos of themselves at home during lockdown.

The royal pair look relaxed and happy as they smiled for the pictures taken in the picturesque grounds of Royal Lodge, where they were staying with Eugenie's parents, Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew, during the coronavirus pandemic.

"Jack and I are celebrating our 10th anniversary today," she wrote. "We are lucky enough to be together at this time."

The couple announced their engagement in January 2018 and married at St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle in October of that year.
