Probe of teen who died 75 days after his COVID jab ongoing, public urged not to speculate: MOH
SINGAPORE — The Ministry of Health (MOH) said on Thursday (30 December) that it is aware of a police report circulating online claiming that a male teenager died in October after receiving his COVID-19 vaccine.
The report contained a “serious allegation” that the boy died due to COVID-19 vaccination, said MOH, adding that it was filed by Dr Paul Yang, who has advocated against vaccinations.
“The teenager received his vaccination 75 days before his unfortunate passing. The case has been referred to the coroner, and an autopsy was performed. Further post-autopsy tests are being performed,” MOH said.
Pending the investigation, MOU urged the public not to spread any unsubstantiated speculation on the cause of death.
Only vaccines that comply with the World Health Organization’s guidelines and meet strict standards of safety and efficacy by the local authorities will be used in Singapore, MOH said. Measures are in place to ensure the safety of COVID-19 vaccine recipients throughout the vaccination process.
“We encourage the public to continue supporting vaccination as a key response to the COVID-19 pandemic.”
