Asia’s leading online property firm PropertyGuru has unveiled the first speakers for its annual technology and innovation conference series, the PropertyGuru Asia Real Estate Summit.

To be held on 8-9 November at The Athenee Hotel in Bangkok, the two-day conference will feature renowned architect Ron Bakker of PLP as keynote speaker on Day 2 to talk about ‘The Edge’ in Amsterdam and how it rose as the most sustainable and smartest building in the world.

Ani Bhalekar, Accenture’s head of Internet of Things and Mobile Practices for ASEAN division, will discuss ‘Tech for the future: How to masterplan your digital strategy’, while Cushman and Wakefield managing director for Asia Pacific research Sigrid Zialcita – who served as last year’s Day 2 chairperson – will speak about ‘Smart buildings: How to make your asset competitive with Intelligent Facilities Management’.

Anthony Arundell, Smart Cities and Sustainability director for One Bangkok, the Thai capital’s new mixed-use project, will join the session on ‘Big data, big profits: How to use Big Data to take your business from good to great’ as an expert panellist.

Dubbed as a conference “where Asia’s leaders and innovators meet”, the 2018 PropertyGuru Asia Real Estate Summit will explore the biggest issues affecting the region’s fast-changing real estate industry, such as PropTech (property technology), the use of big data to grow a tech business, Internet of Things, planning and development of smart cities, blockchain and FinTech (financial technology).

“Within our industry, we have a lot of sectors to consider, from stakeholders to marketing and developers who are all at different stages of understanding and using the technology on offer,” said PropertyGuru Group CEO Hari Krishnan during a recent visit to Bangkok.

“It is crucial that we have a cohesive understanding of where the industry is heading and what technology will best serve us. It’s probably why we are so far behind as it is very hard to inform and collectively move forward.”
