Aldi's new Prosecco Rosé hits shelves on the 2 November, making it the first pink Prosecco to reach the UK market. The Italian government only approved production of Prosecco Rosé DOC in May of this year, creating a serious buzz.

Taking 1st place in the race to bring the tipple to the British public, Aldi's soft pink offering promises elegant notes of summer fruits on the nose, with strawberry raspberry and a hint of white peach on the palate, finished with a gentle citrus twist.

Wine expert, Mistress of Wine, Sam Caporn explained in the press release: "Shoppers might have already enjoyed Italian rosé (or rosato) sparkling wine, but it won't actually have been Prosecco, because pink Prosecco hasn't previously been permitted.

"Prosecco (like Champagne) is governed by strict regulations and Prosecco DOC has to come from grapes grown exclusively from nine provinces in the north east of Italy, and there are many rules in place regarding how it can be produced."

The brand new drink, priced at just £6.49, is sure to go down a treat with both Prosecco and Rosé fans. It will also be available in miniature form with a 250ml bottle costing just £2.29, making it a perfect stocking filler or hamper item.

Julie Ashford, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi UK, said in the press release: "We’re over the moon to be able to provide our loyal customers with the first bottles of Prosecco Rosé DOC available on British supermarket shelves!

"Prosecco is one of our best sellers and shoppers can’t seem to get enough of pink wines so far this year, so a Prosecco that’s pink is sure to get the nation popping bottles.

"It’s been a pleasure to work with the Italian suppliers on creating such an exciting new product, and we can’t wait for our customers to try this tipple."

Aldi’s new Prosecco Rosé DOC (£6.49, 75cl) and Prosecco Rosé DOC Mini (£2.29, 250ml) are available from 2 November.
