Provocative remarks in video led to arrest of a Kedahan


KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor police arrested a local man for allegedly making remarks that were both racist and could tarnish the image of Islam.

Selangor Criminal Investigation Department chief Senior Asst Comm Fadzil Ahmat said the 24-year-old suspect from Kedah was nabbed in Johor Bahru at 3.40am today.

The arrest was made after police received a report on Thursday on a viral video in which a man was seen uttering harsh and provocative remarks.

"Further investigation found that the suspect has no criminal records.

"The case is being investigated under Section 298A of the Penal Code," he told NSTP today.

Recently, a two-minute video went viral on social media showing a man in a white singlet and black hat hurling provocative remarks.

It attracted the attention of Netizens with some individuals calling for the authorities to investigate some of the issues brought up. © New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd
