Chinese Dota 2 powerhouse PSG.LGD announced on Wednesday (30 November) that they have parted ways with position 4 support player Zhao "XinQ" Zixing and offlaner Zhang "Faith_bian" Ruida.
The departures come after PSG.LGD fell short of the Aegis of Champions once again at The International 11 (TI11). After finishing in the Top 4 of every TI since TI7, even placing second in TI8 and TI10, PSG.LGD only managed a 5th-6th place finish at TI11 after getting knocked out by fellow Chinese powerhouse Team Aster.
Faith_bian previously announced that he will be retiring from competitive play after TI11 while XinQ is expected to head elsewhere. PSG.LGD have yet to announce their replacements.
With only Wang "Ame" Chunyu, Cheng "NothingToSay" Jin Xiang, and Zhang "y`" Yiping remaining on the roster, PSG.LGD will have its work cut out for it in its bid to reclaim the top spot in a Chinese Dota 2 scene that is seemingly on the decline.
With that said, notable free agents PSG.LGD may look to sign include Ren "old eLeVeN" Yangwei and Xu "fy" Linsen, with both having already previously played for the team.
The departures of Faith_bian and XinQ from PSG.LGD is the latest of many developments in the global Dota 2 scene's ongoing post-TI11 roster shuffle.
With so much of the Dota 2 competitive scene cantered around TI and its multimillion-dollar prize pools, most teams are formed with the goal of getting to the game's world championship tournament in a bid to claim the Aegis of Champions and the lion's share of the massive prize.
But only one team can win TI, with Tundra Esports being crowned as the champions of TI11 this year.
With that, the rest of the scene are now scrambling to assemble the best rosters possible to try again next year.
