Public wants updates on anti-corruption efforts, national security--Yahoo! poll

President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III is still hounded by his campaign promises, as majority of Yahoo! poll respondents want updates in his anti-corruption efforts.

In a poll on Yahoo! PH that ran on the site from July 16 to July 22, some 23,000 respondents chose what Aquino should report about in his State of the Nation Address.

And yes, the President could see your sentiments: an official at the Office of the President told Yahoo! Southeast Asia Aquino himself saw the poll results.

"Nakita niya, alam niya [He saw it, he knows]," the official said.

Updates about anti-corruption topped the poll with 7,768 votes (33 percent). It could be recalled that Aquino's 2010 campaign was hinged on corruption.

Issues on National security is a runner-up with 7,274 votes (30 percent), amid China's strengthening grip on disputed islands such as Panatag Shoal and Spratly Island.

Issues on the environment should also be in his speech, says some 1,631 (7 percent) respondents. Other respondents (1,156 or five percent) wanted other social issues.
