PUTRAJAYA: The Putrajaya National Registration Department (NRD) is temporarily closed due to a fire extinguisher gas leakage.

A media relations officer said the leakage occurred on 6th floor of the building here, where records are kept.

"Because important records are kept there, our fire extinguishers contain gas instead of water, and that has leaked," she said when contacted.

She said the incident was realised at about 8.45am and members of the public who were present at the office were asked to immediately leave the building.

She said a report has been made to the Fire and Rescue Department, the Civil Defence Department (JPAM) and the Public Works Department (JKR).

"The fire and rescue department is currently at the scene to investigate and control the situation," she added.

The NRD will resume its services upon receiving clearance from the Fire and Rescue Department.

"We will be closed until further notice. The public can visit other NRD offices for urgent matters," she said.
