The Queen was not chastising Princess Anne for refusing to meet Donald Trump in a widely shared video of a reception at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday evening.
Twitter users had speculated that the footage showed the monarch telling off her daughter for not greeting the US president during the Nato reception and the princess responding with a shrug.
But it turns out the Queen was just asking the Princess Royal which world leader was next for her to meet.
After shaking hands and chatting with Mr Trump and first lady Melania, the Queen turns her head to see who is next to greet, but spots Anne waiting at a distance instead.
The princess, raising both her hands in the air, laughs and says “It’s just me”, before adding “and this lot”, pointing to the members of the household behind her.
Many social media users thought she had refused to meet Trump.

Mr Trump seemed to suffer a genuine embarrassment later on when separate footage of the reception showed Nato leaders appearing to mock the US president.
People including Boris Johnson and the Princess Royal were filmed apparently joking about the US president’s unorthodox style, although Mr Trump was not mentioned by name.

During the casual chat, as the leaders sip drinks, Mr Johnson can be heard asking French president Emmanuel Macron, who had had a bilateral meeting with Mr Trump: “Is that why you were late?”
Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau says: “He was late because he takes a 40-minute press conference off the top.”
Later in the conversation Mr Trudeau adds: “You just watched his team’s jaws drop to the floor.”
A video clip of the chat, filmed as world leaders met ahead of a summit to mark Nato’s 70th anniversary, has been viewed almost 4 million times since it was posted online.
It came after Mr Trump branded Mr Macron’s comments that Nato is “brain dead” as “very nasty” before the pair met on Tuesday at the US ambassador’s residence in London.
Mr Trump also pressed Mr Trudeau on Canada’s Nato spending at another bilateral meeting.
