Raffles City Chongqing boasts ‘world’s highest sky bridge’
Singapore-listed CapitaLand announced on Feb 26 that work has begun on the “world’s highest sky bridge” and linking the most towers at Raffles City Chongqing. The mixed-use project is developed jointly with Singapore real estate developer Ascendas-Singbridge at Chaotianmen riverfront in Chongqing.
The skybridge, named The Conservatory, will sit on top of four 250m tall towers. As the skybridge is 300m in length, 30m in width and 22.5m in height, it contains facilities such as an infinity pool, an observation deck, sky gardens and an F&B zone.
The RMB24 billion ($4.9 billion) Raffles City Chongqing sits on a site area of 9.2ha, and was designed by world-renowned architect Moshe Safdie who incidentally also designed Singapore's Marina Bay Sands and Sky Habitat in Bishan. Construction began in 2012, and to date five towers have topped out. When completed, the mixed-use scheme will include 1,400 residential units (Raffles City Residences), 160,000 sq m of Grade-A office space and 230,000 sq m of retail space. There will also be a 201-unit serviced residences branded Ascott Raffles City Chongqing and a luxury hotel.

Marketing of Raffles City Residences has begun. Of the 215 units launched in Jialing One tower, 70% have been sold, while 40% of the 285-unit Yangtze Two tower, which debuted later, has been taken up.
Handover of the office component is expected to begin end of this year, with the entire development to open in phases from 2019.
