Disruption has continued on West Midlands rail lines due to signalling problems following a three-vehicle car crash under a railway bridge on Saturday.

The crash, which sparked a fire on Manor Road in Ettingshall, Wolverhampton, damaged signalling equipment, resulting in major disruption across the network.

Four people, including two young children, were taken to hospital after the incident and a man arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and failing to stop.

National Rail said delays and cancellations between Birmingham New Street and Wolverhampton railway stations were expected to last until midday.

It added on Sunday the issue was also affecting Avanti West Coast, CrossCountry, London Northwestern Railway and Transport for Wales services.

Rail replacement buses are running between Wolverhampton, Shrewsbury and Crewe, with tickets also valid on West Midlands Metro and National Express West Midlands bus routes.

West Midlands Railway posted on X to say a smaller number of services were running between Birmingham New Street and Shrewsbury due to lines being tested.

In a statement on Saturday, West Midlands Police said the man arrested had been taken to hospital for treatment and would be "spoken to in due course".
