Raksha Mantri flags-in climb-a-thon organised as part of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’

New Delhi, Aug 17 (ANI): Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on August 17 flagged-in climb-a-thon organised by Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Darjeeling to celebrate ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’. Climb-a-thon was held at four smaller peaks of Sikkim Himalayas. 7,500 sq ft National Flag was hoisted at Mt Rhenoric, creating a record under Asia Book of Records as biggest National Flag atop mountain. “National Flag, measuring 7,500 sq ft and weighing 75 kgs, was hoisted atop Mt Rhenock, 16,500 ft above sea level,” said Defence Minister at the event. Climb-a-thon, under leadership of Group Captain Jai Kishan, was conducted at Mt Rhenock, Mt Frey, Mt BC Roy and Mt Palung, by a team of 125 mountaineers.
