The 'ramen mask' that fogs up glasses

The 'ramen mask' that fogs up glasses

Location: Yokohama

Japanese artist Takahiro Shibata

had originally planned to make a mask

toprevent his glasses from fogging up

But after realizing it was near-impossible

he decided to create something

that does the opposite

(SOUNDBITE) (Japanese) 28-YEAR-OLD ARTIST TAKAHIRO SHIBATA, SAYING:

"I made this art piece so that the more the glasses fog, the hotter and steamier the 'ramen mask' looks."

The 3D mask features ingredients

found in a real bowl of ramen

like braised pork

green onions

and bamboo shoots

The mask is not yet up for sale

as the artist admits it might not be

the most practical invention

(SOUNDBITE) (Japanese) 28-YEAR-OLD ARTIST TAKAHIRO SHIBATA, SAYING:

"The 'bowl' is filled with cotton and it weighs almost as heavy as a stuffed toy, so it doesn't feel comfortable when I put it on. Since it is made of cotton and air cannot pass through easily, it's hard to breathe when I wear it."
